Hi Charlie,
Tap water doesn't mean automatic death. If you have to use tap water,
check out a few things first by calling your municipal water supplier or
by having your water tested if you use a well. You can also buy a pH
test kit from an aquarium store and see if the pH is alkaline or acid.
If alkaline, you can add a few drops of vinegar to lower the pH. Salts
in the water is another problem, though. It may be that your tapwater
is low in salts in which case you can use it. You can find that out by
asking your water supplier. Bring the results back to list to get
people's opinion about the salt level. If the water has high salt
levels, you could probably still use it if you did a couple of things.
Water from above or if you water from the tray then periodically flush
your media by watering from above. You may also have to repot more
frequently (yearly?).
Of course, RO water is best and there are suppliers. If no one on the
list has given you some names, let me know and I'll look some up in
magazines that I have at home.
Good luck,
David

What type of water is best for CP's, I know that tap water is out of the
question.......but what if that is the only water I have access to!!!
Buying water at the store is costing $$$$$, Rain water, well I wish it
would rain here :( ........ Can I use Reverse Osmosis? If so where can
I get the unit....
Thanks
