While there is probably some degradation of the hormones when autoclaved; as
a practical matter it is easier to add the hormones before autoclaving aand
adjust the concentration to what works after sterilization. It is a pain to
prepare large amounts of media adding filter sterilized components after
autoclaving (and accounting for a pH change as well). Older literature
recommends filter sterilization of GA but now almost no one does. While
"purists" may argue that you do not truely know what or how much hormone is
in the media after autoclaving, it really does not matter if the results are
acceptable and duplicatable.
