Subject: Logging Halted

A day or 2 ago there was a post about the logging in Nevada County, CA
around a Darlingtonia Bog. I forget the author but the message seemed to
propose a senario. Well today in the local newspaper of Nevada County
there was big front page splash about how letters from around the world
had a great influence on establishing a a 100 foot set back rather than
the usual 30 feet to save an bog of Darlingtonia. Everyone locally was
surprised that such international pressure was possible. The article
went on to say that the 10 acres of bog will be purchased (not ure by
whom) and put into a trust to preserve the area. It note that
Darlingtonia are not endangered, but whose populations are monitored.
They featured a nice color photo too. Thanks to all who wrote to help
preserve the stand.
