Zachary,
In your response to the vft and frog question, I use frogs that are
dead. Frogs get stuck in my swimming pool skimmer every night and
drown and I hate to let good food go to waste. I agree that a live
frog could escape, but then again, I have never tried to put a live
frog in a vft. Wait!, I take that back, I did feed one of my Larger
VFTs clones a full grown bull frog. It must of weigh over 4 pounds.
The trouble with this was the trap kept hitting the ground. I was
concerned with hurting the trap...Just kidding of course about the
bullfrog, but I really do feed my plants frogs. Usually gray and green
tree frogs.
I also feed my Purps and other wide mouth Sarr plants dead frogs that
are to big for flytraps. I have been doing this for a few years now.
As for the vfts, I really haven't notice what is left. Usually after I
feed the plants, I generally just look for the next open mouth. Now
that you got my curiosity up, I will have to go home at lunch and
look. What a nice thing to do while eating a sandwich. Usually I find
the biggest trap and pop in a frog or anything else that I may find of
value. Look out "mother-in-law" He, He, HE. I do know that the Purps
smell Like "%$#@", when I feed them too many frogs or fat insects at
one time.
I sure hope this answers some of your question and if you happen see
a tall handsome fellow wondering around your neighborhood one night
with a bug box, flashlight, searching the ground for bugs. Don't fear,
it's probably me wondering around looking for plant food.
