Subject: back after two years

Hi all!

I've been off the list for two years a lot of extraneous
career work that has taken me away from CPs for a while.

I have a question. I have a Nepenthes from Sibola? Java
and I don't know what variety it is. Got it from California
Carnivores. It's growing in my
greenhouse. It's not pitchering, but is sending out
tendrils with leaves. The leaves are a light yellow green
color with an occasional patch of dark green? Is the
plant doomed, perhaps a virus, or can I do something to
bring it back?

I have 3 other Nepenethes that are doing well. One
is gracillis, one is Ventricosa, and one is Splendiana.
The Splendiana is a monster now. I've had it for about
two years, got it from Dean Cook in Oregon. The best
Nepenthes I've ever had. It gave me a treat this
summer. It blossomed. 3 flower stalks. It's a female
plant. Too bad I had no pollen with which
to pollinate it. I would have shared the seed with
the group. Anyway, next summer. It was a great thrill
to see my first Nepenthes flower stalk. And it's a
wonderful plant. I got it to flower by feeding it
Schultz's 20-30-20 powdered (mix with water) fertilizer.

I've gotten into Sarracenia recently, and am glad to
have a Flava and a Purpurea survive outside. I have
them growing in plastic pots in a deep tray filled
with water. I thought the summer heat killed them
because the pitchers turned brown and died. Then, a
couple weeks later, new green pitchers sprouted. You
have to give Sarracenia a chance, because they will
surprise you.

Anyway, glad to be back browsing the list. I'll be
more serious with my postings this time.
