Whoa, it seems we're mildly concerned about liability here. :-)

Condemn you? Hardly. This is wonderful!

I, for one, commend Chin's posting of his experiment. It's one of the
best postings of an experiment I've read in this forum. His methods were
outlined, and he described his observations over time in some detail.

We need more people to do this sort of thing. Anecdotal reports of
various results obtained from certain growing techniques are
just that--anecdotal. Experiments with several plants, maintaining
a few controls for comparison, are very educational.

Chin, your description of leaf tips dying, even on new growth, lead
me to suspect that root development is inadequate in your subjects.
Lack of pitcher formation leads me to the same conclusion.
How wet are you keeping this rich, heavy potting soil?

N. alata is fairly robust among Nepenthes species. It may pull
through, but also may not really thrive--it'll just hang in there.

Please keep us informed of your observations. And, by all means
I would encourage you to undertake other experiments and report
your results here.

Regards,

Perry Malouf
