 Tony,

 I was wondering the same thing. Aren't some Nepenthes very specific in the
ecological niche they fill, and therefore only inhabit very small areas? My
guess is that the fires in Indonesia are causing extinctions (not just
Nepenthes) of many organisms that haven't even been discovered/described yet!
