[-MESSAGE CONTENT SNIPPED-]
David,
I received some of the seed you sent out that January day and thought to
post my
own success story with the seeds... Originally you sent me S. purpurea
venosa, S. minor, and S. psittacia and have had good germination rates on
all three packet of seeds.. Nearly 100% on the S. minor and S. purpurea but
only about 75-80% on the S. psittacia seed.. The seedlings now have 2-3
juvenile leaves growing in a peat/sphagnum mix... All are healthy and
haven't had any damp off since they took root in early March... Results
included:
6 week cold stratification (fridge)
1 day hard freeze (freezer)
1 day soak in room temp water with diluted B1 hormone added
No fungal protection
50/50 peat/sphagnum mix
16 hour photoperiod (cool whites)
70-85 degree constant temps
70-100% constant humidity
All are doing fine and since I only used a 6 inch pot for each packet of
seeds I'm about ready to transplant seedlings to thin out and continue to
grow..
Thanks again for allowing me to grow these little "gems" and hope all the
others that received your seed have prospered as well as myself and Wim...
Happy Growing...
... Richard Berg
