Don,

It won't hurt the plant at all and will allow more of the plant's energy
to be directed toward leaf/rhizome production, which makes for a nicer
looking plant in my opinion. I usually pinch all my vft flowers off
every growing season unless there is some particular plant that I want
to get seed from.
