Glen
One of the problems created by standing pots in water is "damping off"
fungi attacks.
Try growing the Byblis dryer as normally they do not have "wet feet" The
newest site
we have located for the Byblis is very wet during our winter (not normal in
previously known sites), but really dries out in the summer.
To copy the seasons from here, winter is wet and cool (2 - 10 C at night
and days 12 - 20 C)
and the summers are hot and dry with sometimes no rain between Dec - March.
The natural soils from here are very poor, a silica sand with a small
amount of humis. I use only sand and a small amount of peat (25% or less).
Perhaps a spray with a good fungicide, once a month would assist.
