Dear Richard,
the phenomena that you describe with P.moranensis is
reasonably common in cultivation, I think a photograph
appeared in the UKCPS Journal a few years back showing this.
This sort of flower mishap can happen in other species, I
have had P.pumila with two 'Siamese twin' flowers on the end
of one scape, and last year I had a P.agnata produce a 'Y'
shaped inflorescence holding two separate flowers similar to
the situation with P.ramosa.
