Hi Marc.
The answer is "yes." American television is broadcast to a standard known as
NTSC. Most European television is based on a standard called PAL.
There are major technical differences based upon method of broadcasting a
signal. You probably need to purchase a copy of the tape in the PAL format.
Some video stores offer a transfer service, and for a fee, can dub the NTSC
tape over to PAL.
