Household pepper was somewhat effective in discouraging my cat from digging
in my houseplants. I had to use a lot, and it seemed to make the soil
absorb water much more slowly. (?) I have heard black pepper recommended as
a poor man's radiator stop leak so maybe there's some science behind this.
Anyway, good luck. From watching Farmer Elmer Fudd & Donald Duck battle
these guys, I can tell you that firehoses, shotguns, dynamite, and angry
screaming will *not* help.
