Barry,
Just had a quick nose around your web site (its changed a bit since my
last visit). What is the source of your photo of D. stenopetela? My
reason for asking is I have two sets of plants, both from different
growers in NZ, and you guessed it, both claiming to be D. stenopetela.
My original plants look very similar to the plants in your photo
(difficult to be precise about this without a more detailed shot). The
other plants are very similar to D. arcturi but until they grow some
more it is difficult to be sure what if any differences there are.
Possibly the leaves on the suspect plant are held at a flatter angle to
the ground. The confusing thing is that these plants have apparently
been ID'd by a botanist at Auckland University.
I'm struggling to remember who sent the original plants that look like
those in your photo. Possibly Bruce Salmon?
What I'd really like to be able to do is have a look at the original
paper describing the species but so far I've been unable to track it
down.
Regards,
Phil Wilson
