Gary Dughi wrote about 12-14 inch Darlingtonia for $3.99 from a shop
somewhere in California.

John Taylor questioned their origin:

The same worry occurred to me. Over here in the UK, I expect we'd have to
pay that much for a tiny fragment of the plant. I've been growing mine
for several years now from a tiny bit of material (tissue cultured
perhaps) from my local garden centre, and it's still only about 2 inches,
though growing well. Unless the things grow like weeds in their native
California, then this sounds as though someone has been out digging
them up, which I assume is illegal.

While on the subject, I've not yet succeeded in germinating Darlingtonia
seed, despite trying two packets from Chiltern Seeds in the UK. I've
not had any problems with Sarracenia and Dionaea, so what is the
technique, or is it just a case of getting good seed in the first place?
