Usually you should try to grow highland plants like N. lowii as cool
as you can manage at night, down to 10 degrees centigrade is no
problem. However as long as the nights cool down a little and the
rest of your growing conditions are good you can still grow plants
like these, especially if they have already a size of more than 2 to 3
centimeters which, in species like lowii seems to be the critical
size. I once sowed N. lowii conventionally (ex vitro;-)) on peat and
had extremely high losses during the first time when the plantlets
just had their first leaves. After that time they were still slow but
stable. However one should be aware that N. lowii and relatives (N.
ephippiata and N. edwardsiana) are probably the slowest species in
the whole genus. Very cool nights seem to enhance growth but are not
absolutely essential. However some day-night shift is a must.

Bye and good growing
