Odds are that the ants will not cause any problems. Most North American
species carry away dead organic matter into their nests to grow molds
which act as their primary food source. There are alot of variations
though. There is a species of ant that literally herds beetles to obtain
their dung as a food source. If they are burrowing around your CPs I
would probably only be concerned about the molds causing some kind of
root damage or rot but I do not know that they would.
