I'll say, it sounds like the plant is not yet established and it
might have been to happy with it's previous location. On a
S.purpurea * S.psittacina (all-green), the first year I had it,
all the pitchers were sealed shut. I thought, "What a ugly
hybrid." But this year, it seems to have out grown this behavior
and is producing great pitchers! Give your's some time in good
conditions, it will reward you.
