I realize the above would probably produce either non-viable seed or one
ugly plant--BUT one of my D. capensis and one of my D. binata dichotoma
have sent up a flower stalk each and are about to bloom for the first time
this year. It seems a bit late in the year (Fall, for you southern
hemispherians) for them to BEGIN blooming, doesn't it? Anyway, I am SOOOO
tempted to cross them (as in hybridize, not anger) and wondered if anyone
has tried this and if so, what were the results? I read in Marcel
Lecoufle's book that there are no known hybrids of D. binata et al and
maybe I'd be wasting my time, but the prospect of growing a plant that
only its mother could love sure is irresistible.
