I was about to decommission an old D capensis flower stalk when I noticed
that the second flower from the top was distinctly abnormal. Inside the
sepals, instead of petals, was a set of leaf-like things with carnivorous glands
on the inside. The flower appeared to have organs in the middle, though
whether a complete set and whether they were functional I have no idea.
If any science-wallah fancies giving this thing a proper once over, please send
me an e-mail and I will snail the flower stalk to you.
