It's a little late for this discussion, but FWIW I found a bunch of info
on acid rain at the following USGS (U.S. Geological Survey) web site:

It includes some discussion on the chemistry of acid rain and a link to
a great map of average pH values of rainfall in the US (at
http://water.usgs.gov/nwc/NWC/pH/html/ph.html ).
