Hello CP Friends,
We planted some Sar "rugelli" April 10th in my fourth grade classroom.
So far we have seen no results and I know they need more time. The
medium is 4:1 peat moss and perlite. We put some toothpicks close to
where the seeds were planted so we could tell where they were. There is
some fungus growing on the toothpicks but I can't tell what is
happening with the seeds yet. The perlite clumps have turned green...is
that moss? I am keeping the media very wet with clean melted snow
water.
I put them closer to the fluorescent light (about 8 inches away).
However, the amount of light is not consistent as I do not have a timer
yet so on week ends it either gets light all the time or no light at all
depending on whether I turn it off on Fri. or leave it on. Also I
usually turn it on in the morning at about 8:15 a.m. and off as I leave
around 4:30.....and then again sometimes I leave it on all night. What
effect will this have on the seed germination?
Thanks for any suggestions,
Pam
