The U. S. Postal Service offers international money orders, and the charge
is less than what the banks ask. The down side is that it takes a while
for your money order to be sent. You give your money to the post office
and receive a printed receipt with a form that you must fill out. The
receipt and completed form are then sent to an address in the
Midwest US (I've forgotten the state) for processing. They ask you to
allow six weeks for the money order to reach its destination.
