Hi Scott,
S. purpurea does not produce phyllodia. What you are see are very stressed
leaf growth with a very pronouce ala (wing).

Scott, a little more information here would be helpful. How long has it
been in the terrarium (or rather, how long has it gone without a dormancy
period?) Where do you live? If you live in the northern hemisphere, can
you keep it outside and let it go dormant when fall arrives? A refrigerator
is an option but I have never tried that and so cannot offer first hand
advice.
It probably needs to build up some strength, so I'd let it grow until fall
and then let it go dormant. If it dies, all is not lost. You can cut off
any soft tissue, dab the open wound with wettable sulfur, keep it cold until
spring, and then hopefully, a back eye or two will come forth.
